On Thursday, the New York Liberty (18-5) defeated the Atlanta Dream (13-11), 95-84, in the finale of their 2023 four-game season series.

With the win, New York improved to 3-1 against Atlanta, winning the regular-season series for the second-straight season, and extending their win streak to four games.

The Liberty’s 95 points marked their ninth 90-point game of the season, three of which now have come against the Dream that includes two 100-point games.

At Barclays Center, the Liberty finished on 48.5% (32-66) shooting from the field, 35.5% (11-31) from three, and 90.9% (20-22) at the free throw line.

Q1: New York erupted with an 18-2 run to open the game through the 5:57 mark of the first quarter. Atlanta responded with a 12-4 run from the 1:35 mark of the first to the 7:48 mark of the second quarter.

Q2: New York went on a 19-8 run from the 7:35 mark of the second to the 3:25 mark of the first half.

Q3: Atlanta went on an 8-0 run from the 8:59 mark of the third to the 8:04 mark of the quarter.

PLAYER NOTABLES

New York finished with four double-digit scorers in tonight’s game (Stewart, Jones, Laney, Ionescu).

The Liberty’s MVP duo of Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones combined for 52 points on 53.6 (15-28) shooting from the field, including 44.4% (4-9) from three, 25 rebounds, and six assists.

Highlighted by 25 first-half points, 18 of which came in the second quarter, Breanna Stewart finished with a game-high 33 points on 47.1% (8-17) shooting from the field, including 37.5% (3-8) from three and 87.5% (14-16) from the free throw line, 12 rebounds, and five assists. Her 16 attempts from the charity stripe tied a franchise record.

Per ESPN, she is the first player in WNBA history to record 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a half. Further, with her three-pointer at the 9:19 mark of the first, at 23 games into her Liberty career, Stewie became the fastest Liberty player to 500 points as a member of the franchise. This is her fourth game of 30-plus points and her 12th double-double of the season.

Tonight, Stewie became just the second player in WNBA history to record at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a single game with zero turnovers, joining Sabrina Ionescu who did so against the Aces on August 6, 2022.

Notching her fourth consecutive double-double and sixth of the season, reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Jonquel Jones, totaled 19 points on 63.6% (7-11) shooting from the floor, including 50% (1-2) from three, a game-high 13 rebounds. Nine of her game-high 13 rebounds came in the first half.

This is the ninth time in Jones’ career that she has recorded a double-double in four consecutive games and the first since August 2022 (8/2 vs. PHO, 8/4 vs. PHO, 8/7 at CHI, & 8/9 at LAS).

Betnijah Laney added 14 points on 46.2% (6-13) shooting from the floor, including 33.3% (2-6) from three, and a pair of assists.

Sabrina Ionescu finished with 12 points on 50% (4-8) shooting from the field, including 57.1% (4-7) from three, a game-high nine assists, and four rebounds.

Kayla Thornton pulled down a season-high eight rebounds. She also scored six points on 50% (2-4) from the floor.

For Atlanta, Allisha Gray finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
