On Friday, the New York Liberty (5-2) defeated the Atlanta Dream (2-4), 106-83, in the first game of their 2023 four-game season series.

At Gateway Center Arena, the Liberty finished on 45.3% (34-75) shooting from the field, 46.7% (14-30) from three, and 92.3% (24-26) at the free throw line.

Sabrina Ionescu’s eight three-pointers made set a New York Liberty single-game franchise record.

New York’s 32-point second quarter set a season-high in second-quarter scoring. The Liberty’s 106 points are the fourth-most points scored in a single game in franchise history.

New York finished with three double-digit scorers in tonight’s game (Ionescu, Stewart, Jones).

Highlighted by a 23-point first half, Sabrina Ionescu finished with a career-high 37 points on 55.6% (10-18) shooting from the floor, including a franchise-record eight three-pointers on 61.5% (8-13) shooting from deep, four rebounds, and four assists. Her 37 points are tied for the third-most points in a game in franchise history.

Breanna Stewart finished with 25 points on 41.2% (7-17) shooting from the field, including 66.7% (4-6) from three and 17 first-half points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and three assists.

Jonquel Jones added 11 points on 40% (4-10) shooting from the floor, including 33.3% (1-3) from three, a season-high eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Courtney Vandersloot tied a season-high in assists with 11 and added six points, two rebounds, a block, and a steal.

For Atlanta, Allisha Gray finished with 17 points and five rebounds, while Rhyne Howard added 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
