Sami Whitcomb was recently tabbed as the Libs Abroad March Player of the Month after a standout campaign. In eight games, five of which resulted in wins, Whitcomb averaged 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while knocking down 40.3% (27-57) of her three-point attempts.
Sami and the Perth Lynx are now just two wins away from securing the 2022 WNBL championship, as they begin their best-of-three Grand Finals series tomorrow against the Melbourne Boomers.
Bec Allen helped rally Valencia to their ninth consecutive LF-Endesa victory in a defensive battle against Zaragoza. Allen was a rebound shy of her first double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and nine boards while shooting 40.0% (6-15) from the field in the 65-55 win.
Michaela Onyenwere shined in the Copa de la Reina LF-Endesa championship game on Sunday. Onyenwere totaled 14 points on an efficient 55.6% (5-9) from the field and 66.7% (2-3) from deep in Girona’s hard-fought loss to Avenida, 74-69.
This week, Marine Fauthoux garnered recognition for her impressive play throughout Landes’ EuroLeague season. Fauthoux was recently named EuroLeague’s 2021-22 “Young Player of the Year” after averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 10 games (click here for highlights).
In her lone contest of the week, Marine recorded eight points and four assists in an 88-61 victory over Bretagne.
Marine Johannès and Lyon fell to Tarbes this week in a one-possession loss, 66-63. Johannès tallied six points via two triples, six assists, and a pair of steals in 33 minutes.
Stef Dolson helped Sopron secure another postseason victory, defeating Miskolc 68-49 in the first round of the Semifinals. Dolson recorded four points and four rebounds while converting on 50.0% (2-4) from the field in 15 minutes of action.
Kylee Shook’s WNBL debut campaign came to an end when the Adelaide Lightning dropped their second game to Melbourne in the Quarterfinal round, 61-46. Shook pulled down nine rebounds across 26 minutes.
Kylee finished the season with averages of 9.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and a block per game through 19 contests.
