Sami Whitcomb and the Perth Lynx (9-3) further solidified their first place seeding after capturing a pair of wins on the week against the Adelaide Lightning.
Whitcomb was a major difference maker in both contests, registering 22 and 18 points on Monday and Wednesday, respectively. Additionally, Sami combined for 10 assists, 10 rebounds and seven steals while shooting 42.1% (8-19) from three in the two victories.
Last Friday, despite falling to Sydney in a 63-66 one-possession loss, the two-time WNBA Champion recorded one of her most balanced games of the WNBL season with 14 points, five boards, five assists and a season-high six steals across 35 minutes.
Bec Allen and Valencia Basket (19-4) extended their LF-Endesa winning streak to seven games, defeating Leganes 81-65. Allen finished with another 14-point performance on 60% (3-5) shooting from deep alongside three assists
Despite a 1-2 week, Kylee Shook continued her consistent play in the post for the Adelaide Lightning (9-5).
Shook recorded double-digit scoring in each of her three contests this week, extending her 10+ point scoring streak to seven consecutive games.
Kylee’s week was highlighted by Adelaide’s 78-57 win over Townsville last Friday. The incoming third-year forward neared a double-double, finishing with 12 points and eight boards while shooting 45.5% (5-11) from the field.
This week, Stef Dolson recorded another double figure scoring game and domestic win for Sopron (20-1). Dolson netted 11 points while shooting an efficient 83.3% (5-6) from the field in 16 minutes of action.
Sopron then went on to sweep Montpellier, two games to none, in the EuroLeague Quarterfinals. Stef’s EuroLeague slate was highlighted by her five-point, three-rebound night on 100% (2-2) shooting from the field in the 72-65 series-clinching win.
Marine Fauthoux totaled consecutive games of 11 points this past week against Bourges in LFB and EuroCup play.
Fauthoux and Landes dropped their first meeting with Bourges on Saturday in a narrow 68-72 loss. Yesterday, in their first EuroCup Quarterfinal bout, Marine and her club responded with a 65-63 win behind her five assists, five rebounds and 50.0% shooting night from both the field (4-8) and three (2-4).
Marine Johannès and Lyon also split their two-game domestic and international set this week. Johannès commenced the week with a 77-60 victory over Angers, where she continued her sharpshooting with eight points on 50.0% (3-6) from the field and 66.7% (2-3) from beyond the arc.
On Thursday, Lyon fell 64-77 in their first of two EuroCup Quarterfinal matchups against Mersin. Marine added five points in 25 minutes.
Michaela Onyenwere helped Spar Girona to their 17th win of the season, contributing six points on 42.8% (3-7) shooting from the field across 16 minutes in a 73-50 victory over Clarinos.
