Semifinals, We Ready
Round one? CHECK. Semifinals, WE READY.
After clinching the #1 seed in the playoffs, the Libs returned to NY to face the Atlanta Dream in a best-of-three series for the first round of the WNBA Playoffs. True to form, the Liberty got it done in just two games, securing back-to-back victories over the Dream.
On Tuesday, they closed out the First Round with an electrifying 91-82 win, demonstrating exactly how #SEAFOAMSZN rolls!
While it was a team effort overall, Sabrina Ionescu, also known as SA-THREE-NA was on fire in Game 2! Dropping 36 points, a playoff career-high and tying a franchise post-season high, Sab had the crowd in a frenzy *Maiya the Don voice*. Sa-three-na even earned the approval of Brooklyn’s very own and legendary film director, Spike Lee who jumped out of his seat on multiple occasions. Sab closed it out with a near double-double with 9 assists and 3 steals.
Jonquel Jones (JJ) also put on a show and showed the Dream whose house it was dropping a double-double (20 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Stew York entered the chat with double digits in scoring with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2, assists.
With the Libs cooking on the court, you already know the atmosphere was unmatched. And the electricity? OFF THE CHAIN. It’s never a dull moment at a Liberty game at Barclays Center!
To add to the game’s momentum, CeLiberty Row was one of the highlights of the night! The stars aligned and seats were filled with GOOD company with Pharrell, Whoopi Goldberg, Track Gold Medalist Gabby Thomas and more in attendance to cheer on the Liberty. We even got a lit halftime performance from Queens Legend Ja Rule!
With the First Round in the books, the Libs head to the Semifinals ready to tidy up some unfinished business in the rematch we’ve all been waiting for against the Las Vegas Aces.
