On Tuesday, the New York Liberty (3-1) defeated the Seattle Storm (0-3), 86-78, in the opening game of their 2023 four-game season series.

At Climate Pledge Arena, the Liberty finished on 49.1% (28-57) shooting from the field, 37.5% (9-24) from three, and 91.3% (21-23) at the free throw line.

Tonight, New York blocked a season-high ten shots and assisted on 23 of their 28 made shots.

In her first career game against the Storm and return to Seattle, Breanna Stewart finished with a team-high 25 points on 57.1% (8-14) shooting from the field, including 33.3% (1-3) from three, 11 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals –– her third double-double in the Liberty’s first four games.

Highlighted by four first-half three-pointers, Sabrina Ionescu finished with 20 points on 46.2% (6-13) shooting from the field, including 60% (6-10) from three, six rebounds, and three assists.

Including Courtney Vandersloot, who finished with 11 assists and four rebounds –– her second consecutive double-digit assist game, New York’s backcourt combined for a 20-point, 14-assist, 10-rebound triple-double.

Stefanie Dolson finished with 10 points on 100% (2-2) shooting from the floor, including 100% (6-6) from the free throw line, five assists, and a block –– her first double-digit scoring game of the season.

 Jonquel Jones finished with nine points, five rebounds, and three blocks, while Kayla Thornton added nine points, two rebounds, and two blocks.

For Seattle, Jewell Loyd finished with a game-high 26 points and three rebounds, and Ezi Magbegor finished with a 12-point, 14-rebound double-double and also added three blocks, two assists, and two steals.
