Natasha Howard garnered both the EuroLeague Women MVP for January and Libs Abroad Player of the Month awards after she amassed a season-best 33 points and 19 rebounds in Dynamo Kursk’s 71-66 EuroLeague victory over Spar Girona on January 29.
Howard finished January’s four-game slate of domestic and international contests with averages of 24.8 points and 13.0 rebounds per game, while she showcased her range and shot 57.1% (8-14) from three-point territory.
Tash posted consecutive double-doubles on the week, finishing with 13 points and 15 rebounds against Fenerbahçe on February 2.
The season-best performances this week didn’t end with Howard, as Sami Whitcomb tallied 23 points on 10 for 15 (66.7%) shooting from the field, two of four (50.0%) from deep, five boards and three assists in Perth’s 90-82 victory over Bendigo; the club’s fourth-straight contest in the win column.
On February 2, Bec Allen helped Valencia Basket advance to the EuroCup Quarterfinals behind her 16-point outing where she converted on five of 11 (45.5%) from the floor and three of eight (37.5%) from beyond the arc. Earlier in the week, Bec scored a quick five points and secured three boards in just nine minutes in the Orange’s 83-47 win over Bembibre.
Marine Fauthoux and Basket Landes continued their impressive EuroLeague run, securing a pair of victories in the international competition. Fauthoux totaled 15 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the team’s 71-62 win over Galatasaray, followed by a nine-point performance in Landes’ 61-52 defeat of Sopron.
Kylee Shook and the Adelaide Lightning split their pair of WNBL games this week, which was highlighted by the team’s 73-65 victory against Townsville. Shook, this week’s third player to eclipse a season-high in scoring, finished with 14 points and six boards over 39 minutes of action in the win.
