On Tuesday, the New York Liberty (17-5) defeated the Seattle Storm (4-19), 86-82, in the finale of their 2023 four-game season series, completing its first regular-season series sweep of Seattle since 2015.
With tonight’s win, at 17-5, New York set its franchise record for best start to a season.
At Barclays Center, the Liberty finished on 40% (32-80) shooting from the field, 28.6% (10-35) from three, and 85.7% (12-14) at the free throw line.
New York overcame an 18-point, second-half deficit to take a 76-75 lead at the 1:46 mark of the fourth and ultimately secure an 86-82 victory, marking their largest comeback of the season.
The Liberty’s 32-point fourth quarter marked a season-high in fourth-quarter scoring.

New York finished with six double-digit scorers in tonight’s game (Stewart, Laney, Jones, Ionescu, Vandersloot, Johannès).
Breanna Stewart finished with 22 points on 50% (9-18) shooting from the field, seven rebounds, and three blocks. At the 0:13 mark of the first half, Stewart reached 300 career blocks with her first block of the contest.
Betnijah Laney totaled 19 points on 72.7% (8-11) shooting from the floor, including 50% (2-4) from three, three assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Jonquel Jones added 13 points on 50% (5-10) shooting from the field, a season-high 17 rebounds, two assists, and a block, marking her third consecutive double-double and fifth of the season. This is Jones’ first three-game span of consecutive double-doubles since 2022 (6/17 vs. SEA, 6/19 at WAS, & 6/22 vs. NYL). Her 17 rebounds tied for the fifth most single-game rebounds in her career. At the 3:57 mark of the third, Jones also reached 300 career blocks with her first block of the contest.
Highlighted by a nine-point, seven-assist fourth quarter, Sabrina Ionescu finished 12 points, 12 rebounds, and a season-high 12 assists, marking the fourth triple-double of her career. With tonight’s triple-double, she breaks a tie with Candace Parker for the second-most career triple-doubles in the regular season.
Courtney Vandersloot finished with 10 points on 40% (4-10) shooting from the field, including 50% (2-4) from three, six assists, and four rebounds.
Marine Johannès added 10 points on 44.4% (4-9) shooting from the field and a career-high-tying three steals.
