Johannès Tallies Career-High 23 Points in New York’s Loss to Seattle, 81-72

On Sunday afternoon, the New York Liberty (6-10) fell to the Seattle Storm (10-6), 81-72, in the third and final matchup of their 2022 season series.

At Barclays Center, the Liberty finished on 40% (30-75) shooting from the field, 37% (10-27) from three, and 40% (2-5) at the free throw line.

Four Liberty players scored in double figures in tonight’s game (Johannès, Ionescu, Whitcomb, Howard).

Highlighted by her 11-point first half, Marine Johannès scored in double figures for the second time in five appearances this season, finishing with a career-high 23 points on 75% (9-12) shooting from the field, including a career-high five made triples on 62.5% (5-8) shooting from deep. She also added four assists.

Sabrina Ionescu totaled 12 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, and two steals – two rebounds shy of a third-career triple-double.

Sami Whitcomb finished with 11 points, including 33.3% (3-9) from deep, and four rebounds. Her makes from deep tied a season high.

Natasha Howard totaled 11 points and a season-high 11 rebounds – her second double-double of the season.

For Seattle, Gabby Williams finished with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Sue Bird finished with 11 points and four assists in her last game regular season game against her hometown team.
