If you’re not at Liberty Theme Games... WYD?
Liberty games at Barclays Center are the place to be this summer!
Seven games into the season and Barclays Center is already feeling like the place to be.
We tipped off the season with a celebration that set the tone. Season Opener, spotlighting our Ring and Banner ceremony to celebrate the 2024 WNBA Champs. Next was our AAPI Game in celebration of Asia Pacific Heritage Month in partnership with OCM Global.
Then came the drop. SLAM Night hit and we had a time! Fans swarmed Brooklyn Fanatics for the exclusive SLAM x Liberty tees, and if you were lucky enough to grab one… you know the drop was legendary.
Next in line was Big Ellie’s Birthday Bash and it was exactly what it sounds like. The BBQ was powered by Shake Shack, complete with Shack samples, a DJ spinning all the fan favorites, pop-a-shot hoops, and a crowd of Ellie fans in birthday tees. It was giving family reunion meets block party, with a whole lot of love for the elephant of the hour.
When Ellie made her grand entrance down the Snipes Arrival Path, it was nothing short of royal. A seafoam ball gown, fur cropped jacket, long braid flowing, and a pearl cake purse in hand.
And she didn’t show up alone. Her mascot crew came deep, including the UConn Husky, the Fordham Ram, and the NY Islanders’ very own, among others. It was mascot mayhem in the best way possible, capped off with an afterparty full of dance battles, cake, and chaos—just how Ellie likes it.
Coming up next – our 7th Annual Unity Game on June 19 ignites activism, educates fans, unites the local community, and amplifies marginalized voices as we honor Juneteenth. Don’t miss a special halftime performance celebrating original work from the Alvin Ailey American Dance theater featuring current Ailey Students and NY Liberty Dancers.
While we’re celebrating Pride all month, it’s a lifestyle this way! Stay tuned for our upcoming Pride Night on July 25th at 7:30pm/ET as we run it back against the Phoenix Mercury right here in the heart of Brooklyn!
Four theme games in. Four home runs. And trust, there’s more where that came from.
