The most consistent player in the WNBA, Tina Charles enjoyed another spectacular season in 2017, as she was once again named 1st Team All-WNBA while finishing as the runner-up in the WNBA Most Valuable Player Race, led the New York Liberty to the best record in the Eastern Conference for a third-straight season.

Charles’ assault on the WNBA record books continued, as she climbed to 20th (4,772) on the WNBA all-time scoring list, while picking up seven more Player of the Week Awards, increasing her career-record to 28, and a pair of Player of the Month accolades as well, improving her career-tally to 11.

Charles is now just 16 double-doubles shy of tying Lisa Leslie’s all-time mark of 157, and also moved into the Liberty’s top spot in franchise history in rebounding, and she is already 3rd in scoring.

While her accomplishments on the court were tremendous, particularly the way she took on a stronger leadership role, and expanded her range, hitting a career-high 24 3-pointers while leading the Liberty in 3-point field goal percentage, Charles also continued to step up off the court, where she had her biggest wins of the season.

Once again to donate her entire WNBA salary to Hopey’s Heart Foundation, Charles has now placed more than 300 AED’s across the globe since she founded the organization in 2013, and she earned the State Farm Community Assist Award for the month of August.

That award came after Charles learned that an AED she had donated through Hopey’s Heart Foundation to the Marbridge Foundation in Austin, Texas, was used to save Dan Carlson’s life, after he went into cardiac arrest on their campus. Charles was able to meet with Carlson, his wife, and representatives from the Marbridge Foundation to share a special moment privately and with Liberty fans at The Garden in the regular season home finale.

June 2 vs. Dallas
Charles poured in a new career-high of 36 points, shooting 13-of-23 from the field, one shy of matching her most field goals made in a game, and hitting a pair of 3-pointers with 10 rebounds as the Liberty beat the Dallas Wings at The Garden.

July 6 at Seattle
One of Charles’ best performances of the year came in a game the Liberty had to have on the road, a win over the Storm to break a 3-game slide. She finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocked shots.

July 19 vs. Connecticut
In the last game before the All-Star break, Charles led the Liberty to an impressive win over the Connecticut Sun at Madison Square Garden, scoring 28 points with 17 rebounds over just 30 minutes of action.
