New York Liberty Will Host Second Annual AAPI Heritage Game at Barclays Center on Sat., May 27

NEW YORK (May 26, 2023) In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, the New York Liberty will host its second annual AAPI Heritage Game on Sat., May 27 when the team takes on the Connecticut Sun in Brooklyn at 1 p.m. EST.

The Liberty will feature several AAPI activations throughout the game, including:

An exclusive, first-of-its-kind “Carry the Torch” candle made for the New York Liberty by The New Savant, a Brooklyn-based, lesbian and AAPI-owned scent studio founded by season ticket holders, Ingrid Nilsen and Erica Anderson. The limited-edition candle uses a custom fragrance designed to smell fluid, rebellious and unapologetic. It will be available for purchase only at the Liberty team store at Barclays Center, Brooklyn Fanatics, while supplies last.

An exclusive Han Xu height chart giveaway for the first 2,000 fans in attendance.

Specially curated dining options from Destination Dumpling and Essex Pearl in Brooklyn Market.

A mural honoring the Asian American diaspora by artist May Bukowski and Thrive Collective set-up outside Section 23 on the main concourse.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, the New York Liberty hosted a community clinic on Wed., May 24 for 50 youth participants in Lower Manhattan. Liberty center, Han Xu spoke to the students and engaged in some basketball drills. Click here to view photos from the clinic.
