New York Liberty Waive Guard Brittany Boyd

BROOKLYN – April 21, 2020 – The New York Liberty announced today that the team has waived veteran guard Brittany Boyd.

“Brittany has been a valuable member of the Liberty for the past five seasons,” stated General Manager Jonathan Kolb. “However, we are going in a different direction at her position and wanted to give her ample time to pursue other opportunities across the league. We wish her nothing but the best.”

New York selected Boyd 9th overall in the 2015 WNBA Draft, out of University of California, Berkeley. Despite missing all but two games during the 2017 season due to injury, she totaled four 30-plus game seasons for New York between 2015 and 2019, starting in 46.

During her five seasons in New York, the Richmond, Calif. native recorded 805 points, 504 assists, 410 rebounds and 174 steals. Her 504 assists rank eighth all-time in franchise history, and her 174 steals puts Boyd 10th overall in the Liberty record books.

The WNBA announced on April 3 that the 2020 training camp and regular season will be postponed as developments continue to emerge around the COVID-19 pandemic. The league continues scenario-planning for new start dates and innovative formats.
