New York Liberty to Celebrate Second-Annual Juneteenth Game on June 16

Team to showcase local artists in “Black Joy” art show and silent auction

NEW YORK – JUNE 15, 2022 – On Thursday, June 16, the New York Liberty will host their second-annual Juneteenth Game in honor of the oldest nationally commemorative observance of the conclusion of slavery in the United States. The team will host the Washington Mystics at 7 p.m. ET at Barclays Center.

The game will celebrate Black culture through art, song, dance, and more. Pregame activities will feature a Black professionals mixer in the 40/40 Lounge and the singing of the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice”. Halftime will include a performance by Wula Drum, a West African drum and dance performance group.

In-game elements are headlined by an art exhibit and silent auction featuring artists Arthur Midianga and Watson Mere on the Main Concourse nearest section 23, with proceeds to benefit a local nonprofit. Additionally, fans can support Black-owned food vendors Likkle More Jerk and  Destination Dumplings at Brooklyn Market located on the concourse of Barclays Center.
