New York Liberty To Celebrate 7th Annual PRIDE Game Tonight
Halftime performance by HBO Max’s Legendary Winner, House of Mugler
BROOKLYN, NY – June 24, 2021 – Today, the New York Liberty will host the Chicago Sky at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for their annual PRIDE Night celebration.
“The Liberty have a long-standing commitment to uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community not only through sports and entertainment, but also through community engagement and the consistent promotion of inclusivity for all people,” said Liberty CEO Keia Clarke.
This year, PRIDE Night at Barclays Center will feature a special halftime performance by House of Mugler, winners of HBO Max Original ballroom competition series Legendary. The Liberty will also celebrate the 5-year anniversary of the Poulos couple who got married in the Liberty’s locker room in 2016.
Additionally, fans will receive a complimentary Liberty PRIDE T-shirt, and access to purchase the team’s exclusive PRIDE hat available for retail at the Team store located in the arena.
On Wednesday, June 23 at 3:30 p.m. ET, the team hosted the #OwnYourPride panel discussion about the WNBA’s evolution and pioneering leadership in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Liberty athletes, Jazmine Jones and Sami Whitcomb, joined women in sports experts, Kristin Bernert and Angela Taylor, to discuss how the WNBA became a safe space for athletes to fully be themselves, the role of sports in shaping athletes’ freedom and identity, and how visibility is changing the game.
