NEW YORK – FEBRUARY 10, 2023 – The New York Liberty has signed 6-3 forward, Sika Koné, the team’s No. 29 overall selection in the 2022 WNBA Draft, to a rookie scale contract.
Koné (20) will join New York after four seasons with Spar Gran Canaria in Spain’s LF Endesa (2019-2023). A member of Mali’s National Team, Sika impressed in the 2022 FIBA World Cup after registering averages of 12 points and a tournament-best 11.8 rebounds per game–including 4.6 offensive rebounds per game.
Currently, with Gran Canaria, Koné is averaging 17.1 points and 13.6 boards through 20 games where she has amassed 15 double-doubles and finished with double figure scoring in each contest.
