On Sunday, the New York Liberty (11-4) defeated the Seattle Storm (4-12), 81-66, in the second game of their 2023 four-game season series.

At Climate Pledge Arena, the Liberty finished on 46.5% (33-71) shooting from the field, 32% (8-25) from three, and 87.5% (7-8) at the free throw line.

New York held Seattle to 27 first-half points, marking a season-low in scoring by a Liberty opponent this season.

Today, the Liberty recorded a season-high 16 steals, two shy of the franchise record and most since July 19, 2002, against the Phoenix Mercury.

The Liberty finished with 33 made field goals in today’s contest, 29 of which were assisted, marking a single-game season high of 87.9% in team assist percentage.

Yesterday, the WNBA announced that Liberty guards Sabrina Ionescu and Courtney Vandersloot have been selected to play in the AT&T 2023 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 15 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. Joining 2023 WNBA All-Star captain Breanna Stewart, this marks the Liberty’s first All-Star trio since 2003.

New York finished with four double-digit scorers in today’s game (Stewart, Vandersloot, Ionescu, Laney).

Highlighted by a 14-point first quarter, Breanna Stewart finished with 20 points on 42.1% (8-19) shooting from the floor, including 40% (2-5) from three, eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Marking her fifth double-double of the season, recently-named 2023 All-Star Courtney Vandersloot finished with 18 points on 53.8% (7-13) shooting from the floor, a season-high 12 assists, and five rebounds. This is the first 18-point, 12-assist game in the W this season and Vandersloot’s first since 2018.

Of the seven 18-point, 12-assist, five-rebound games in WNBA history, six have been recorded by current Liberty players (Ionescu (3); Vandersloot (3); Taurasi (1)).

Fellow recently-named 2023 All-Star Sabrina Ionescu added 13 points on 41.7% (5-12) shooting from the field, including 50% (3-6) from deep, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Betnijah Laney totaled 10 points on 50% (5-10) shooting from the field, five rebounds, and four assists.

For Seattle, Jewell Loyd finished with a game-high 27 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
