Liberty To Celebrate Team’s First-Ever West Indian Night on Sept. 1
NEW YORK – AUGUST 31, 2023 – The New York Liberty will celebrate its first-ever West Indian Night on Friday, September 1 when the team takes on the Connecticut Sun at 8 p.m. ET at Barclays Center.
In recognition and celebration of New York’s deeply-rooted West Indian culture and communities, the first-of-its kind Liberty theme game will include the following activations:
- Custom West Indian arena and in-game presentation elements, including live musical performances, headlined by Serani and Nailah Blackman during halftime.
- The Liberty are teaming up with the Caribbean Biz Network to amplify 11 local Caribbean-owned small businesses. The vendors will be on the Main Concourse, including Island Pops who will be providing product samples.
- Special concessions from Brooklyn-based Jamaican restaurant, Likkle More Jerk, will be featured on the Main Concourse at Section 23.
- Postgame party in 40/40 Club at Barclays Center. Limited tickets are available here.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game, Liberty center and Bahamas native, Jonquel Jones, added:
“I’m very excited about the Liberty shining a light on the amazing West Indian community in New York – especially in Brooklyn. From the second I moved here, the community has embraced me with opens arms, and I take tremendous pride in representing you all every time I step on the court. We plan to put on a great show for you!”
