On Saturday, the New York Liberty (25-5) fell to the Connecticut Sun (22-7), 64-72.

At 25-5, the 2024 Liberty are off to the team’s best start through 30 games in franchise history.

The Liberty recorded at least 15 assists for the team’s 101st consecutive game to extend the longest streak of 15 or more assists in WNBA history.

New York recorded at least 10 offensive rebounds for the fourth consecutive game, which is tied for the second-longest streak by any team in the WNBA this season.

The Liberty recorded at least 44 rebounds for the fourth consecutive game, setting the longest streak of consecutive games with 44 or more rebounds in WNBA history.

PLAYER NOTABLES

Breanna Stewart led the Liberty offense with a double-double of 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds against the Sun while adding four assists, three blocks and two steals. With her layup at 2:07 of the second quarter, Breanna became the fastest player in Liberty franchise history to reach 500 made field goals (68 games) and one of two players in WNBA history to reach 500 made field goals with a single franchise before playing 70 games with that team, joining Seimone Augustus. Stewart recorded multiple blocks and multiple steals in a single game for the 44th time in her career to pass Taj McWilliams-Franklin for the seventh-most such games in WNBA history.

Leonie Fiebich scored 14 points on 71% (5-7) shooting from the field and 67% (2-3) shooting from deep. Fiebich also added five rebounds, three assists and a block in the win. Leonie scored 10 points in the third quarter for the first double-digit scoring quarter of her WNBA career. She is one of three 2024 rookies to record multiple games of two or more three-pointers while shooting at least 70% from the field this season.

Sabrina Ionescu finished with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal against Connecticut. The reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Month for July also made two three-pointers to extend her streak of regular-season games with at least one made three-pointer to 53, which is the third-longest such streak in WNBA history. Sabrina has also scored at least 10 points in all 28 games so far in 2024, which is tied for the most in the WNBA this season.

Jonquel Jones recorded 10 points and eight rebounds with a block against her former team. Jones added two assists for her 24th multi-assist game of the season, which ranks as the third-most by any frontcourt player in 2024.
