The 30th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 3, but throughout the month of February the New York Liberty will be supporting NGWSD activities in and around New York city, from high school, to college, and youth events. WATCH ME WORK

On NGWSD the WNBA officially launched its #WatchMeWork social media campaign, with athletes, celebrities, and fans, all taking part to show support and let the world know how they work. The Liberty gets it done on the court!

SETON HALL VISIT

On NGWSD, Liberty legend and Director of Player Development Teresa Weatherspoon made a trip to Seton Hall University to meet with the Pirates’ women’s basketball team. After taking in an afternoon practice, she gave one of her trademark motivational speeches about determination and hard work.


SOUTH SHORE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL GAME

The New York Liberty street team made an appearance at the South Shore High School girls’ basketball game on National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 3. South Shore was able to pick up a win, and the team and fans received some New York Liberty merchandise in the process.


EPIPHANNY PRINCE VISITS RUTGERS

Liberty guard and Rutgers University legend Epiphanny Prince was able to visit the Rutgers Athletic Center when the Scarlet Knights hosted Northwestern on Feb. 10. Prince met with fans and signed autographs pregame, and was recognized by the fans during the action.

STREET TEAM AT CHRIST THE KING

The New York Liberty street team was there for a big-time high school girls’ basketball game in the city as Tina Charles’ old squad from Christ the King picked up a win over Long Island Lutheran!


FORDHAM YOUTH BASKETBALL CLINIC

For the Fordham University women’s basketball team’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration, the New York Liberty joined them on campus to host a youth basketball clinic before the Rams hosted La Salle that afternoon. Teresa Weatherspoon was on hand to meet with the more than 70 kids in attendance and run them through fun basketball drills before the game that afternoon!


COLUMBIA YOUTH BASKETBALL CLINIC

Before the Columbia Lions women’s basketball team hosted Princeton University at Levien Gymnasium on Friday, Feb. 26, Liberty legends Teresa Weatherspoon and Kym Hampton teamed up to host a coed youth basketball clinic. Clinic participants were able to work with some of the best to ever play the game in a small group setting and received tickets to that night’s game, an upcoming Liberty game, and cool New York Liberty swag!

ST. JOHN’S NGWSD YOUTH SPORTS CLINIC

The St. John’s Red Storm women’s basketball program held its National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on Feb. 28, and held a youth sports clinic in conjunction with the event. Kym Hampton was there to work with kids at a Liberty basketball station during the clinic, and the Liberty street team was on the St. John’s concourse meeting with fans and working the Prize Wheel.
