NEW YORK, NY – April 27, 2018 – The New York Liberty will open its 2018 Training Camp at MSG Training Center on Sunday, April 29. New York will welcome 23 players to its camp this preseason:
The Liberty are coming off 3-straight WNBA Playoffs berths and 20-plus win seasons, posting a 66-36 (.647) over that span, a 22-12 clip last season. All-Star forward, Tina Charles, was once again named 1st Team All-WNBA while finishing as the runner-up in the WNBA Most Valuable Player Race, after leading the New York Liberty to the best record in the Eastern Conference for a third-straight season.
Katie Smith enters her first season as the Liberty head coach after serving the previous four seasons as an assistant on Bill Laimbeer’s staff, the last two as Associate Head Coach.
*Note: The Liberty will have eight (8) players absent for the start of training camp as they complete competition for their international club teams – Epiphanny Prince (Russia), Amanda Zahui B (Czech Republic), Kia Vaughn (Turkey), Kiah Stokes (Turkey), Shavonte Zellous (Turkey), Bria Hartley (Turkey), Rebecca Allen (France), Sugar Rodgers (France).
