There was plenty of excitement through the first part of the season with the Liberty breaking records, and pickup right were they left off last season, posting one of the best records in franchise history. It was hard to choose just five plays to include, but fans will get a little bit of everything including buzzer beaters, clutch shots, tough finishes at the rim, and imposing defensive stops. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
Liberty at Sun (June 16)
Showing off her new offensive arsenal, Tina Charles put her offensive range on display, taking a pass from Tanisha Wright late in the shot clock to beat the buzzer and extend the Liberty lead. She went on to tie her career high with 32 points in the Liberty win.
Liberty vs. Sparks (May 21)
Early in the 3rd quarter, with the Liberty down two, Tanisha Wright sees an opening on the offensive end and drives to the rim, absorbing contact from Essence Carson, she banks in a difficult shot as she draws the foul to knot the score at 36-36.
Liberty vs. Sun (July 17)
Second-year guard Brittany Boyd puts her trademark offensive speed on display, taking advantage of an open lane in transition, speeding past Jasmine Thomas for a layup. The ball hangs on the rim for a few seconds, before eventually dropping down.
Liberty at Lynx (June 29)
A shot that came during the midst of one of the best individual performances of the season, Sugar Rodgers drains her Liberty team record 7th 3-pointer of the night, which gave her 30 points and helped lift the Liberty to an overtime win at Minnesota.
Liberty at Storm (June 5)
Not just a top play for the Liberty, one of the WNBA’s best of 2016 and a blocked shot that landed as Sportscenter’s No. 3 top play of the day. Kiah Stokes records the clutch block on former college teammate Breanna Stewart as she drives baseline during a crucial moment in a NY road win.
