Swin Cash Re-Signs With New York

NEW YORK, NY – March 8, 2016 – New York Liberty President Isiah Thomas announced today that the team has re-signed forward Swin Cash. Per team policy, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Swin is an outstanding leader and fierce competitor. We are excited she will be re-joining the Liberty for the 2016 season,” said Thomas. “Our team’s incredible chemistry played a critical role in finishing with the best record in the WNBA last season, and Swin helps establish expectations on the court and in the locker room. I also laud her continued commitment to serving the community; she is an excellent ambassador for the New York Liberty and the WNBA.”

One of the most accomplished players in WNBA history, Cash will begin her 15th season in the WNBA, and third with the Liberty franchise.

Last year, in what was her first full campaign in New York, Cash appeared in all 34 games, making 28 starts, while averaging 4.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. She ranks seventh in WNBA history in games played (448), and is 14th in scoring (4,955), 10th in rebounds (2,416), and 15th in assists (1,090).

The 6-1 forward and former second overall pick (2002, Detroit) is a three-time WNBA Champion (2003, 2006, 2010) and a four-time All-Star (2003, 2005, 2009, 2011). Cash is a two-time All-WNBA selection (2003, 2004) and was an All-Defensive Team honoree in 2011. She has won two Olympic Gold Medals as a member of the United States Women’s National Team (2004, 2012).

Cash has extensive postseason experience, appearing in 55-career WNBA Playoffs games, where she has averaged 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

During the WNBA offseason, Cash served as a studio analyst on Knicks broadcasts and as the host of “Nothing But Knicks” on MSG Network.

New York’s 20th WNBA season tips off at Washington on Saturday, May 14, and the Liberty’s 2016 home opener at Madison Square Garden will be against the Dallas Wings on Sunday, May 15, at 5 p.m.
