 The New York Liberty join the WNBA in recognizing Kimberlé Crenshaw, co-founder of The African American Policy Forum (AAPF). Founded in 1996, AAPF is an innovative think tank that connects academics, activists and policy-makers to promote efforts to dismantle structural inequality. AAPF also created the #SayHerName Campaign in 2016 to bring awareness to the often-invisible names and stories of Black women and girls who have been victimized by racist police violence, and provides support to their families.

The Liberty (1-12) fell to the Sun (6-8) 82-65 on Saturday night.

New York shot 37.0% from the field and 27.6% from beyond the arc.

The Liberty had 35 rebounds, 19 assists and 15 bench points.

Key Runs:

Connecticut opened the first quarter on a 10-0 run led entirely by Alyssa Thomas. The Sun outscored New York, 24-16 in the first quarter.

New York went on a 11-6 run midway through the second quarter to cut Connecticut’s lead to as little as three points. The Liberty outscored the Sun 22-21 in the second quarter, going into the locker room down 7 points.

The Sun got out to a 12-7 run with 4:48 remaining in the third quarter. Going into the final frame, New York trailed by 17.

New York and Connecticut tied in the final frame with 16 points apiece.
