Sun Best Liberty in Final Game Before Olympic Break, 54-71

TEAM NOTABLES

The New York Liberty (10-11) lost their final game before Olympic break to the Connecticut Sun (14-6), 54-71.

There were two lead changes and one tie in the first quarter. From there, Connecticut led the remainder of the contest. New York finished with 15 team assists and 34 rebounds, five of which were offensive.

New York finished on 30.4% (17-56) from the field, 64.7% (11-17) shooting from the free throw line, and 31% (9-29) from three.

 

PLAYER NOTABLES

Three Liberty players scored in double figures in tonight’s game (Shook, Onyenwere, Jones). In the first half, the only player in double figures was Connecticut’s Jazmine Thomas (10).

Kylee Shook scored a career-high 16 points and connected on a career-high four three pointers in her second consecutive double-digit scoring game and seventh of the season. Shook finished on 75% (6-8) shooting from the field and 80% (4-5) from deep. She also totaled five rebounds.

Michaela Onyenwere
added 12 points for the home team. She shot 33.3% (3-9) from the field and 83.3% (5-6) from the charity stripe.

Off the bench, Reshanda Gray connected on a career-high two three pointers, shooting 100% (2-2) from deep. Gray finished with eight points on 75% (3-4) shooting from the field and five rebounds.

Jazmine Jones also finished with 10 points off the bench on 66.7% (6-9) shooting from the free throw line, two assists, and four rebounds.

Jonquel Jones led both teams in scoring with 17 points on 42.9% (6-14) shooting from the field, 37.5% (3-8) from deep and a game-high 17 rebounds.
