Brooklyn native and Liberty guard Tanisha Wright, a 14-year WNBA veteran, finished the 2019 season averaging 4.7 points, 4.1 assists 2.8 rebounds per game. She rejoined the Liberty for a third season with the franchise after playing for the Minnesota Lynx during the 2018 season.
Wright was the team’s most vocal leader on the floor and a strong defensive presence in the guard position, averaging one steal per game. She played in 31 of the team’s 34 games, starting in 17.
On August 18, Wright scored a season-high 18 points against the Phoenix Mercury, when she shot 6-9 from the field and 1-2 from beyond the arc.
In 2019, she passed Liberty legend and Ring of Honor member Teresa Weatherspoon for the 11th spot on the WNBA’s all-time assist leaders list.
