New York Liberty to Host Inaugural AAPI Heritage Night on Friday, May 13

NEW YORK MAY 12, 2022 In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, the New York Liberty will host its first-ever AAPI Heritage Night at Barclays Center when the team takes on the Indiana Fever on Friday, May 13 at 8 p.m.

“I’m thrilled that the New York Liberty will host an AAPI Heritage Night for this first time this WNBA season to celebrate the community’s rich culture and tradition,” said Jackie Wilson, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at BSE Global, parent company of the Liberty, Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center. “Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage is deeply-rooted in the fabric of the entire New York community, and we have an amazing night full of programming planned for our fans at Barclays Center.”

The Liberty will feature AAPI activations throughout the night, including but not limited to, recognition of AAPI pioneers and community members, custom game presentation elements, dining options from Destination Dumpling and 5ive Spice in Brooklyn Market, a halftime Karate performance by Amerikick and an exclusive Han Xu poster giveaway to the first 2,000 fans in attendance. New York will also sponsor several local AAPI community and student groups to attend the game.
