New York Liberty Name Ashley Battle TV Color Analyst on YES Network

NEW YORK – JUNE 18, 2021 – As part of the New York Liberty’s 25th anniversary season, the team announced today that former player Ashley Battle has been named color analyst on YES Network, the official regional TV partner of the New York Liberty.

“When it came to securing special talent to represent us on YES Network, it was imperative that we find a qualified person within the New York Liberty family,” said Liberty CEO Keia Clarke. “Ashley’s professional experience and passion for the game will immensely complement our on-air talent and we are thrilled that she is lending her voice to our broadcast during this historic 25th anniversary season.”

Battle added: “Joining the Liberty’s YES Network broadcast team for this 25th anniversary season is especially exciting for me. As a former player in this storied franchise and a lifelong student of the game, I’m grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”

Former Liberty player and defensive specialist (2006-2009), Battle will call game action alongside play-by-play announcer Chris Shearn on YES Network. She will call a limited number of games this season beginning on June 22 when the Liberty take on Candace Parker and the Chicago Sky at Barclays Center at 7 p.m. ET.  That game will also be streamed on the YES App, as are all of YES’ Liberty telecasts.

A Pittsburgh native, Battle played collegiately for the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team, where she was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2004 and won NCAA National Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
