Libs Abroad Weekly Roundup Presented by Withings: 12/2

The Libs Abroad Weekly Roundup is back, starting out the final month of 2022 on an impressive note. Between domestic leagues, international leagues, and the 2023 EuroBasket Qualifiers, your favorite Liberty players are balling out across the globe. Let’s jump in!

Sika Koné continued her double-double tear through the end of November, recording yet another commanding performance of 26 points and a game-high 17 rebounds while shooting a lights out 81.8% (9-11) from the field and 100% (8-8) from the line. Sika’s combined points and rebounds (43) marked the league’s highest total over the past five seasons.

Yesterday, the 20-year-old forward tallied 15 points and eight boards, four of which were on the offensive glass, as well as a trio of assists.

Koné’s continued success earned her the LF Endesa Week MVP Award for Week 8; her second consecutive honor and eleventh of her career in Spain.

Recently named the Libs Abroad Presented by Withings November Player of the Month with monthly averages of 18.0 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.4 rebounds, Marine Johannès has been the embodiment of consistency leading to success.

Marine closed out Lyon’s November slate with a record of 4-1 across LFB and EuroCup play. In her consecutive 23-point outing on November 19, MJ shot an efficient split of 61.5% (8-13) from the field and 50.0% (4-8) from three, leading to an 87-76 victory.

Johannès carried her momentum into December with a game-high 22-point performance yesterday, where she helped Lyon qualify for the LFB Coupe de France Quarterfinals in a tightly contested 76-73 win over Roche.

Additionally, last month, Marine represented Team France in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers where she finished with a 3-1 record and averaged 15.5 points per game. Adding to her already impressive resume, she eclipsed the 1,000-point career mark as a member of the national team and became the 23rd all-time player to do so.
