The New York Liberty are participating in Nike’s NBA and WNBA Game Growers program which provides eighth grade girls with tools and resources to increase girls’ participation in sports in their local communities.
The Liberty selected Sienna Olivares from Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Secondary School for Arts and Technology in Queens, and Skylah Kemp from PS282 in Brooklyn.
Sienna and Skylah were surprised after school by Liberty staff at BSE headquarters in Industry City on Tuesday, December 17. Liberty forward Reshanda Gray sent a video congratulating them and offering advice. Guard and Jordan Brand athlete Asia Durr also surprised Sienna, her biggest fan, with a FaceTime call.
