Liberty to Celebrate Pride Night presented by Resorts World Casino NYC on June 24

NEW YORK, NY – JUNE 20, 2016 – The New York Liberty will celebrate Pride Night presented by Resorts World Casino NYC when it hosts the Chicago Sky at Madison Square Garden on Friday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m.

The New York Liberty will be donating $5,000 to the OneOrlando Fund, created to provide a way to respond to the needs of the Orlando community in the wake of the tragedy at Pulse Nightclub. The Liberty’s Pride Month partner Resorts World Casino NYC will make a matching donation of $5,000, for a total of $10,000 donated to the fund.

This year’s Pride Night celebration will provide #OrlandoUnited wristbands for the first 5,000 fans in attendance, a NOH8 Campaign photo shoot in Chase Square, and special musical performances.

“For 20 seasons, the New York Liberty has created an inclusive environment where all fans can be united through the game of basketball and come to Madison Square Garden to feel welcome, and accepted,” said Team President Isiah Thomas. “As this week’s horrific events in Orlando have demonstrated, it is as critically important now as it has ever been, to stand with the LGBTQ community, and offer them our love and support.”

The powerful NOH8 campaign open photo shoot will be located outside of the Madison Square Garden box office in Chase Square from 4-8 p.m., on Friday night. Single/solo photos will cost $40, couple/group photos are $25 per person, and are available on a first-come first-serve basis, no reservations are required. The first 125 fans holding a ticket to that night’s game will receive a complimentary solo photo courtesy of Resorts World Casino NYC. All funds raised through the photo shoot will support the NOH8 campaign.

Lez Zeppelin, the critically acclaimed all-female tribute act performing the work of Led Zeppelin will before on the court at Madison Square Garden during halftime of Friday night’s game. Additionally, Whitney Day will perform as the guest DJ.

Demonstrating its strong support of the Liberty’s pride initiatives and shared values around inclusivity, Smirnoff Vodka has purchased 1,000 tickets to the Pride Night game to provide to the LGBTQ community. Additionally, SMIRNOFF will be providing 500 “One Orlando” t-shirts for Liberty Delta Club members at the game.
