Ionescu Drops 33 in Liberty’s 80-93 Loss to Wings

BRADENTON, FLA. —July 29, 2020— The two youngest teams in the league matched up Wednesday night and New York Liberty fell to the Dallas Wings 80-93.

Sabrina Ionescu carried New York scoring 33 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, one point shy of the best single-game rookie performance in Liberty history. Kia Nurse holds the record for her 34-point performance against Indiana on June 2, 2018.

  • Ionescu, who finished with 33 points on 11-20 shooting from the field, scored nearly half of Liberty’s first half points (21). She connected on two shots form beyond the arc and two baskets from the paint scoring 10 of her 21 first half points in the last two minutes of the second quarter.
  • Sabrina’s first half performance ties for the team’s best since Tina Charles scored 21 in the first half against Indiana on 8/20/2019.
