Nurse and Canada Trounce Greece, 81-50, to Open World Cup Action

TENERIFE, SPAIN – September 22, 2018 – New York Liberty guard Kia Nurse and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe were two of four Canada Basketball’s Senior Women’s National Team members to score in double-figures as Canada trounced Greece, 81-50, to open 2018 FIBA World Cup action.

After leading 23-10 after 10 minutes, Canada continued to dominate offensively in the second, scoring 28 points in the quarter and entered halftime with a 26-point advantage, 51-25.  Canada shot 53-percent in the opening half and showed no signs of slowing down in the third quarter.

With a comfortable lead, Canada scored 15 points in each of the final two quarters on their way to the win.

Nurse ended the afternoon with 12 points while also carting four fouls. She collected one board and was a perfect free-throw shooting draining all eight of her tries.

Raincock-Ekunwe dominated the glass for Canada, grabbing a game-high eight rebounds, including five offensive boards in almost 22 minutes. Moreover, she dropped 11 points on 50-percent shooting while also drilling three looks rom downtown.
