NEW YORK, NY – September 13, 2015 – The New York Liberty will face the Washington Mystics in the WNBA Eastern Conference Semifinals, with the three-game series slated to begin on Friday, Sept. 18, at Madison Square Garden at 7 p.m.
New York finished the regular season with a franchise all-time best 23-11 record to secure the top seed in the Eastern Conference for the first time since 2002 and the best overall record in the WNBA for the first time in franchise history.
Washington fell to Atlanta, 73-71, in its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon to finish fourth in the East. This will be the third postseason meeting between New York and Washington, but the first since the Liberty topped the Mystics 2-1 in the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals. New York is 4-1 all-time against Washington in postseason play.

Game two of the series will be at Washington on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m., and will be broadcast on ESPN. Game three, if necessary, will be back at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a tipoff time to be determined. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
The other Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup will be No. 2 seed Chicago Sky against the No. 3 seed Indiana Fever, with that series slated to get underway on Thursday, Sept. 17, in Chicago.
The WNBA Playoff format features a best-of-three series for the conference finals and semifinals, followed by a best-of-five series for the WNBA Finals. The format is 1-1-1 during conference play then 2-2-1 for the WNBA Finals.
