Liberty Release 2014 Preseason Schedule

NEW YORK, NY  March 10, 2013  The New York Liberty will tip-off its 18th season in franchise history with preseason match-ups against Eastern Conference rivals the Connecticut Sun and Atlanta Dream.

The Liberty will start the 2014 season with back-to-back games against the Connecticut Sun, beginning with a road game at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, May 4 at 1 p.m., followed by a home matchup on Thursday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at the completely transformed Madison Square Garden. The game will serve as the Libertys annual School Day games with each student in attendance receiving an educational workbook. There will also be a special guest speaker that will address the students with an anti-bullying message at halftime. Exhibition play concludes on Sunday, May 11 at 3 p.m. against the Atlanta Dream at Philips Arena.


New York, led by perennial All-Star
Cappie Pondexter, enters its second season under head coach and general manager Bill Laimbeer. Laimbeer was a three-time WNBA Champion during his previous stint in the league as head coach of the Detroit Shock (now Tulsa). Liberty All-Star forward Essence Carson is also expected to return. Carson suffered a season-ending torn left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in 2013.


The Liberty will host several exciting theme nights at The Garden throughout the season, including Dads and Daughters Day, Inspiring Women Night, Pride Day, Hoops for Troops, Breast Health Awareness and the annual Camp Day game.
