In the midst of the WNBA's Olympic Break, guard Loree Moore and center Janel McCarville took the time to visit the recently opened Museum in lower Manhattan to present the SmA with one of the nets from the historic Liberty Outdoor Classic.
McCarville, Moore and the Liberty made professional basketball history by playing in the Outdoor Classic, the first regular season outdoor game in the sports history against the Indiana Fever on July 19 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The game was also the first non-tennis sporting event at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Following the net presentation, the players headed to the SmA Store to meet and greet fans for an autograph session. Liberty fans and downtown tourists flocked to the players to grab special autographed basketballs and photo sets from two-thirds of the team's captains. Click here to view photos from the visit.
The SmA is the nation's first and only all-sports experience, features state-of-the-art interactive technologies, dramatic original films, an iconic collection of sports memorabilia and is home to the Heisman Trophy and the Billie Jean King International Women's Sports Center.
You too can see the Liberty Outdoor Classic net on display at the Sports Museum of America. Log onto www.sportsmuseum.com for more information on how, where and when to go!
